We're In The People Business

From L to R: Bob Speelman, Jamie Jenkins, Lura Sandy, Anna Sellers

July 26, 2018
I had an amazing evening the other night at Meadow Grove Transitional Care in Grove City, one of our newest facilities. Lura Sandy is the Administrator of Meadow Grove, and she is also a Regional Director of Operations for our Company. Lura is simply an amazing leader!

While I was at Meadow Grove, I got to work for a few hours again with Gloria Torres, the STNA who I worked with earlier this year at Meadow Grove. Gloria is still as loving and thorough of a caregiver as she was then, and she is definitely part of the secret sauce that Atlas has as a company.

When Gloria left at 7pm I had the opportunity to work alongside Jamie Jenkins, one of Meadow Grove top night shift STNAs. Gloria said to me, “You will love Jamie! She is an amazing STNA and has very high standards.”

Gloria was right!

After getting report and handing off the shift, Jamie and I got right after it getting residents ready for bed and answering call lights. Jamie has been a nursing assistant for 25 years and her experience showed. She moved with purpose and precision, from room to room, and each time she entered a room the residents responded with a smile that went from ear to ear.

Throughout the night Jamie told me stories about former residents that she had cared for during their last days, and the impact that they had made on her life. I’m certain she made just as much an impact on their lives, as well.

Our success as a company was standing right beside me. I was in the presence of our biggest asset- loving direct care staff. I was working alongside an amazing person and a wonderful caregiver. We can never lose sight of the fact that we are in the people business. If we want to be a great company and make a difference in our world we need to love, care and support our staff, that love, care and support our residents and their families.

Always treat your employees exactly as you want them to treat your best customers.
