Braving the Snow: Dedication Shines at Salem Woods
January 7, 2025
At Salem Woods, our dedicated staff never ceases to amaze us, especially during challenging times like this winter storm. This morning, two remarkable team members, Mark Banchy and Robert "Boots" Boots, went above and beyond to ensure our residents received the care they deserve.
Mark Banchy, who is approaching his incredible 41st work anniversary, walked 2.2 miles through snow and freezing temperatures to get to work on time. His reason? “I knew the residents needed to have clean laundry, and I was determined to make sure they had what they needed.” Mark’s selflessness and commitment over four decades have made him the heart of our community, and his actions today remind us why he’s truly one in a million.
Meanwhile, Boots, one of our amazing cooks, faced a similar challenge. Scheduled as the PM cook, he saw cars struggling to make it up the icy hill to our building. Determined not to let our residents down, he laced up and walked 1.8 miles uphill to ensure he made it to work, ready to serve.
These stories exemplify the extraordinary dedication of our Salem Woods team. Mark and Boots didn’t just show up—they showed us what it means to care deeply, even in the face of adversity.
We are beyond grateful for these two and all our staff members who make Salem Woods a place of compassion and service. Thank you, Mark and Boots, for embodying the spirit of excellence and heart that defines our community.
