Brian Colleran Honors Athens LPN Wound Nurse For Extrordinary Caregiving
April 15, 2018Nursing Home Developer, Brian Colleran, is constantly seeking to put a spotlight on great caregivers. As part of his initative to bring postive changes to long-term care in the areas of facility aesthetics, clinical excellence, and resident satisfaction, Brian awarded Rachael Coey, Wound Certified LPN and Assistant Director of Nursing at Hickory Creek of Athens with his Caregiver of the Month award.
Rachael started at Hickory Creek as a state tested nursing assistant in 2003. She worked her way to become a LPN, then to Unit Manager and now to Assistant Director of Nursing. Rachael is in charge of the "West" unit, which is the ventilator and respiratory unit at Hickory Creek of Athens. She is also in charge of "Renaissance" unit, our locked behavioral unit. She manages the skin program for the entire facility and does an exceptional job at preventing pressure and other skin areas through treatments, staff education, and constant monitoring and follow through. She is one of the many people who give Hickory Creek the awesome, family-like environment and exceptional care. Because Rachael has been at Hickory Creek of Athens for 15 years, Rachael knows the ins and outs of the facility, what works and what doesn't, and is a great leader for our team. She constantly pushes the team to be better and to work in the right direction to make Hickory the best place it can be. Rachael goes above and beyond for her residents and coworkers. You can always find her busy, and she is never "above" doing any type of work. You will see her answering call lights, assisting with positioning and transferring residents, passing trays, and more. She is a team player who jumps in to get anything done that is needed. She always puts the residents of Hickory Creek of Athens first. The staff look up to Rachael and respect her, partly because she is always so willing to give them a helping hand, no matter how busy she may be.
