A Natural Leader
From L to R: Shanita Davis, Bob Speelman, Mallory FitzsimmonsOctober 4, 2018 I had the privilege of working as an STNA at Riverview Pointe, our 101-bed, skilled nursing facility in Olmsted Falls. Mallory Fitzsimmons is the administrator at Riverview, and she is doing an amazing job! I worked with Shanita Davis who has been an STNA at Riverview Pointe for 8 years. Shanita has an amazing passion for caring for her residents. You could tell within minutes of meeting her that she is a natural leader and has the respect of her coworkers.
Shanita was born in Alabama and when she was 7 years old her entire family moved to Ohio. When I say her entire family, I should probably clarify that Shanita's mother is one of 18 siblings! Her Grandfather moved ahead of the family and got a job in the Cleveland area and then the entire family followed. You don’t have to be around Shanita very long to realize that her family is everything to her.
This same love and passion Shanita has for her family carries over to her residents and coworkers. Several of the residents spoke highly of Shanita with the following statements: “She cares a lot about us,” “She is so good to us,” and “She anticipates what we need.” My time with Shanita was amazing. It’s so encouraging to be around a great caregiver. It made me feel honored to have this person as a part of our caregiving team.
“I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal.”- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Shanita understands this! Shanita’s approach to her residents and her fellow staff is inspirational! After spending several hours with her you couldn’t help but feel good about yourself and life. Thank you Shanita for all you do! Thank you for being a key part of our team. I left Riverview inspired and proud of you and our awesome Riverview Team!!
