Peggy at Siena Gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio

March 31, 2020

North Olmsted, Ohio - I'm not traveling to buildings for awhile due to the Coronavirus and not taking chances of spreading anything from building to building. I sent an email out to the STNA's asking them to take a picture of a staff member at the building that exemplifies our Culture of Care and tell why they do.

Stephanie Robinson was the first STNA to respond. She works at Siena Gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio. Stephanie took a picture of Peggy in the housekeeping department. Stephanie had this to say about Peggy: "She's the best, she's one that goes beyond and more. She's here for our patients, especially at a time where cleanliness is sooo important. Even before the coronavirus outbreak, Peggy has always kept our facility neat and clean. She's very thorough. If a patient asks for clean sheets, she gets them. She takes the time to talk to them. Peggy is very loved here by our staff, our patients, and we hope she stays here for a very long time. She's definitely one that deserves recognition."

Brenda and Ashley from Country View of Sunbury

Audrianna Withem, who is Director of Medical Records and Central Supply and also an STNA at Country View of Sunbury, gave a shout out to two of their housekeepers.

Audrianna writes: "I would like to give a huge shout out to these two outstanding housekeepers we have at Country View! This is Ashley (right) and Brenda (left). These two are always going above and beyond for this facility and the residents who live here. Both of them come to work each day with a smile on their face, ready, and willing to give 110%. They both have been picking up many days to fill needs and give our residents the best care possible."

Shemika from Respiratory and Nursing Center of Dayton

Tawana James, an STNA and scheduler at Respiratory and Nursing Center of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, honors Shemika Metcalf. Shemika has been with our family for 14 years. She recently lost her father after battling cancer. Shemika is currently in school for her RN. No matter what task it is Tawana says that Shemika does it with a smile on her face. Shemika is truly a team player, all the residents and coworkers love her, and she is blessing.

Tawana went on to say every day she comes to work, passes through the main entrance under this sign, and it just makes her day. Tawana encouraged me to read every morning Psalms 91 and I will do the same to you. A portion of that Psalms says:

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High

will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress,

my God, in whom I trust."

Surely he will save you

  from the fowler's snare

  and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his feathers,

  and under his wings you will find refuge;

his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

You will not fear the terror of night,

nor the arrow that flies by day,

nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,

nor the plague that destroys at midday.

A thousand may fall at your side,

ten thousand at your right hand,

but it will not come near you.

Tawana, and all of our caregivers throughout Ohio, go into our buildings every day to care for our residents. Not out of obligation to a company or for even what they are paid. They do it because they are caregivers. They put themselves in harm's way because they love and they care. It's who they are.
